Axe Throwing ….yes you read that right, Axe Throwing.
It is incredible the things we do for fun in 2016. I went axe throwing last week as part of a work social event and it was surprisingly a lot of fun.
I burst out laughing when it was suggested, “you can’t be serious” was my exact sentiment. How much fun can it be to throw an axe at a board of concentric circles? A LOT I came to realise!
Whistle Punks is dubbed the “Home of Urban Axe Throwing”. They provide 3 pairs of axe throwing lanes where teams of 15 or less have a go at slugging axes at a wooden board. The aim is to get your axe to remain on the board inside one of the circles, for a tiered amount of points per circle.
How hard can it be? Quite! I managed to successfully hit the board maybe three times (of 18 tries) and scored 2 points in total. Let’s just say I won’t be quitting my job to join the band of axe throwers anytime soon.
Whistle Punks was great fun, I would definitely recommend it.
