To Do in London: Whistle Punks Axe Throwing

Lifestyle By November 5, 2016 Tags: , , , , No Comments

Axe Throwing ….yes you read that right, Axe Throwing.

It is incredible the things we do for fun in 2016. I went axe throwing last week as part of a work social event and it was surprisingly a lot of fun.

I burst out laughing when it was suggested, “you can’t be serious” was my exact sentiment. How much fun can it be to throw an axe at a board of concentric circles? A LOT I came to realise!

5 Things I love about spring

Amsterdam in the spring

It has been spring for about 2 weeks already here in the UK, and I have confirmed with myself that there is a certain feeling that comes upon me once it’s spring. I’m not sure if it’s the change in temperature or the longer days, but my moods are certainly lifted in the springtime. Being myself, I decided to list my favourite things about this season.

Powerlist Influencers Dinner

Posing for the camera
Last week I was privileged to attend the 2016 Powerlist Influencers Dinner hosted by Powerful Media at the V&A museum. The event was in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group and Ernst & Young, with Thompson Reuters as the main sponsor.

The Powerlist is a yearly publication which highlights the top 100 most influential Britons of African and Caribbean Heritage. It also highlights individuals who are considered rising stars in their fields and as such are pegged to themselves feature on the list in the near future. The number one individual on the Powerlist this year was none other than Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Ken Olisa. The list also recognised the likes of Sir Lenny Henry (Actor and campaigner), Steve McQueen (Film Director), Lewis Hamilton (Three-time Formula 1 World Champion), Adrian Joseph (MD, Enterprise Analytics Services EMEA, Google) and many more successful people.

Hello Lovelies,

A few weekends ago, I made my way over to Dalston Yard street feast and I am convinced, street food is KING.

I felt like a kid in an amusement park with only so many coupons to try out rides, in this case cash represented the coupons. So Imagine my delight when I found out that card payments were accepted at some stalls (10 points for technology).

Back to the story. Food Feast is a weekly ‘festival’ of sorts run by a group of people. To my knowledge they are in Dalston Junction and Lewisham.

To Do in London: Bounce

“Ping Pong bar? What?”

Listen, people have been going to the cinema for centuries, it’s getting old.

If you share the sentiment that sometimes going out with friends gets a little “samey”, I think you will like this one.

Located in central London, Bounce is a lovely spot that offers food, drink and PING PONG. Genius isn’t it? Set in a rustic 1950’s style underground (ish) location, it offers seating (Diner style) as well as a tournament-like array of ping pong tables. For a small fee of £20 (off peak) or £28 (peak) yourself and a few friends could enjoy some fun (or competitive) ping pong over some drinks and pizza.

“Chicken and Waffles? Really?” Absolutely!

I love chicken, and before you laugh, I put it to you that it has nothing to do with my melanin (or maybe it does, but who cares). There’s nothing quite like some good chicken! So when my friend told me about a restaurant whose strapline is “The best free range fried chicken you’ve ever tasted”, you already know what my answer was. Here’s another post on where to eat in London.

Now, thinking about fried chicken, my mind goes to “hole in the wall” take away joints with grease seeping out the cracks. But no, not Bird. The atmosphere in the restaurant is trendy and it provides a polished diner style atmosphere with proper booths for full effect.

What are adventures without food?  Let me be honest, when I started this website, I was most definitely looking for an excuse to try all the kinds of food there are in London. What else did you think adventure meant? ;).

A few weekends ago my housemate and I went over to Jackson and Rye and boy did we get stuffed!

We had a selection from their brunch menu and the food was delicious.
