I know it’s late, but happy 2015 to you all. I hope this year brings good things to you and yours.
Now on to the post. Let me first say that I struggled to write this up because I was very underwhelmed by my visit to this establishment. I suspect it was for two reasons;
1. It looks almost exactly like Jackson + Rye which I reviewed recently
2. I didn’t have brunch 🙁
Bill’s is described as a breakfast, lunch and diner spot with a good number of branches across England and Wales. That being said, it took me ages to decide what to order, simply because It wasn’t very clear to me what type of restaurant this was. There is just no clear theme to the food on the menu. Is it English? Is it European? Continental? I struggled greatly. I still don’t know the answer to that, maybe someone who reads this can enlighten me.
Don’t get me wrong, having an “eclectic mix” on the menu is probably music to some ears, but it certainly isn’t for indecisive people like me. I mean you wan’t to pick up a menu and have something speak to you! I heard diddly squat.
Alas, I finally settled for the trusted Calamari and
Thai Bill’s Green Chicken Curry, one can never really go wrong with those.
It feels like i’m bashing this fine establishment, i’m not. It just wasn’t for me, atleast not their Lunch & Dinner menu. Perhaps
if when I return for their brunch I will be singing an entirely different song. I’ll be sure to tell you all about it.
I have to say though, If you’re looking for a nice rustic date spot, Bill’s may fit the bill (*chuckling to self*)
Food Quality: 2*
Restaurant Atmosphere: 3*
36-44 Brewer Street, Soho,
London. W1F 9TB
What we had
Crispy Lemon Squid
Spiced Tortilla Chips
Bill’s Style BBQ Pork Ribs
Bill’s Green Chicken Curry
Peach and Fresh Mint Ice Tea
All in all, I would say it’s worth a shot, maybe for a chilled out meal or a rustic romantic date. It just didn’t do it for me.
Have you been to Bill’s? What are your thoughts? Leave a comment below.
Until Next time.
p.s My Camera is clearly racing ahead of us all this 2015. How much do you hate timestamps! (They shall be gone for the next post)
