Posing for the camera
Last week I was privileged to attend the 2016 Powerlist Influencers Dinner hosted by Powerful Media at the V&A museum. The event was in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group and Ernst & Young, with Thompson Reuters as the main sponsor.

The Powerlist is a yearly publication which highlights the top 100 most influential Britons of African and Caribbean Heritage. It also highlights individuals who are considered rising stars in their fields and as such are pegged to themselves feature on the list in the near future. The number one individual on the Powerlist this year was none other than Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Ken Olisa. The list also recognised the likes of Sir Lenny Henry (Actor and campaigner), Steve McQueen (Film Director), Lewis Hamilton (Three-time Formula 1 World Champion), Adrian Joseph (MD, Enterprise Analytics Services EMEA, Google) and many more successful people.

Hello Lovelies,

I couldn’t help myself with that title, Adele is a musical goddess. If that just went over your head please stop what you’re doing and go listen to Adele’s new song “Hello”.

Please don’t hang me for not posting for ages (even though I deserve it)….MERCY!! Not only have I been busy, I have also been going through some changes. While change can be tough and soul draining, it’s always good!

Hand on heart, I will be more consistent with posting with the few weeks remaining in this year. I will be even more consistent in the new year (New year’s resolution LOCKED DOWN)

On to the topic du jour,

Dalson Yard Street Feast

Food, Pop Ups By June 21, 2015 Tags: , , , , , , , , , No Comments

Hello Lovelies,

A few weekends ago, I made my way over to Dalston Yard street feast and I am convinced, street food is KING.

I felt like a kid in an amusement park with only so many coupons to try out rides, in this case cash represented the coupons. So Imagine my delight when I found out that card payments were accepted at some stalls (10 points for technology).

Back to the story. Food Feast is a weekly ‘festival’ of sorts run by a group of people. To my knowledge they are in Dalston Junction and Lewisham.

Europe, Travel By May 11, 2015 Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , No Comments

Hello Lovelies,

Long time no post..It has been a busy few months, but believe me when I say I am still very much here. For more frequent updates on the happenings of Reet Petite please follow reet.petite on Instagram.

Now, before I went to Amsterdam I was skeptical.I had heard lots and lots about this city of drugs, alcohol and sex that some call sin city of Europe. However, I have been there and back and I can wholeheartedly report that whilst Amsterdam IS all those things, it is also much more. There is so much culture and history seeping out of every street corner and the people are ridiculously friendly.

To Do in London: Bounce

Lifestyle By March 21, 2015 Tags: , , , , , No Comments

“Ping Pong bar? What?”

Listen, people have been going to the cinema for centuries, it’s getting old.

If you share the sentiment that sometimes going out with friends gets a little “samey”, I think you will like this one.

Located in central London, Bounce is a lovely spot that offers food, drink and PING PONG. Genius isn’t it? Set in a rustic 1950’s style underground (ish) location, it offers seating (Diner style) as well as a tournament-like array of ping pong tables. For a small fee of Β£20 (off peak) or Β£28 (peak) yourself and a few friends could enjoy some fun (or competitive) ping pong over some drinks and pizza.

Food, Restaurants By February 7, 2015 Tags: , , , 1 Comment

“Chicken and Waffles? Really?” Absolutely!

I love chicken, and before you laugh, I put it to you that it has nothing to do with my melanin (or maybe it does, but who cares). There’s nothing quite like some good chicken! So when my friend told me about a restaurant whose strapline is “The best free range fried chicken you’ve ever tasted”, you already know what my answer was. Here’s another post on where to eat in London.

Now, thinking about fried chicken, my mind goes to “hole in the wall” take away joints with grease seeping out the cracks. But no, not Bird. The atmosphere in the restaurant is trendy and it provides a polished diner style atmosphere with proper booths for full effect.
