Long time no post..It has been a busy few months, but believe me when I say I am still very much here. For more frequent updates on the happenings of Reet Petite please follow reet.petite on Instagram.
Now, before I went to Amsterdam I was skeptical.I had heard lots and lots about this city of drugs, alcohol and sex that some call sin city of Europe. However, I have been there and back and I can wholeheartedly report that whilst Amsterdam IS all those things, it is also much more. There is so much culture and history seeping out of every street corner and the people are ridiculously friendly.
The architecture is historic….almost as it was centuries ago (I say that like I was there..lol), from images of previous centuries, it is apparent that a lot of effort has been put into preserving the architecture of the lovely city.
ART….SO.MUCH.ART…..Being the home country of the famous Van Gogh there was lots to see and I came away more informed about art, the impressionist and post-impressionist era and most of all about the complicated, emotional but full life that Vincent van Gogh lived. The visit to the van Gogh museum was definitely my favourite day, his story is truly inspiring.
All in all, my friends and I had a blast! Amsterdam is definitely worth seeing.
I would definitely recommend:
Van Gogh Museum
Anne Frank’s House
Dam Good Coffee
Staring at Jacob
